Native Ohio Gardening
Native Ohio Gardening
Growing up in rural New York State, I spent nearly all of my childhood outdoors- adventuring in the woods, trekking through creeks, and running through our wildflower meadows. These formative years sparked a reverence for the restorative power of nature and an appreciation for our interconnection with the natural world.
Over the past three years, I've worked to replace parts of my conventional front lawn with native Ohio forbs and grasses to support biodiversity and create wildlife habitats. To date, I've planted over 50 different species native to Northeast Ohio and have observed a dramatic uptick in the number of bees, moths, and other pollinators that visit my suburban prairie each year.
Sewing
After dusting off my old sewing machine during the COVID-19 pandemic to sew masks, I've steadily continued to build and hone my sewing skills. From creating stuffies and costumes for the young people in my life, to constructing garments from vintage patterns, I enjoy challenging myself with different techniques and materials. More recently, I've started to explore the world of pattern making and creating my own designs.Â
